Antics

Brett is out of town this weekend so nothing too exciting to report. Just some general Owen moments to share. He's so great! Sorry, I know he's my kid but had to throw that in there:)

Bouncing the ball around

Eating ham and cheese on bread

Talking (yelling) to the cat

Hallowaa!!!

A little Halloween preview for you.

Owen received his Halloween outfit yesterday courtesy of Papa Mo and Nonna Barbara. We decided to keep it light this year since he's not a fan of clothes, let alone something on his head and feet. So, he'll be a bat this year:) Very cute. He was not too happy, but we'll work on it.

And, it brought amusement to us at least.

First Trip to the Zoo

Today we took Owen to the Lincoln Park Zoo for the first time. Not sure what he enjoyed more, the animals or all the people, but nonetheless we all had lots of fun. It was a great way to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL weather we had today. 82 and Sunny. A rare gift in Chicago and probably the last taste of summer for quite a while.

We saw lions, tigers, apes, reptiles, etc. Owen liked anything small that moved quickly.
I think they were getting ready to feed this tiger. He was really big and Owen was a little freaked out at first.

Next year will be so great when Owen is walking and actively interested in everything!

Stairs

Owen climbed about 3 before this, but of course once we turned on the camera he only did one. Still dangerous!!!

Too Pooped to Party

You know you had a good weekend when this is what happens to your child at dinner...
Poor Owen fell asleep in the middle of his dinner. It rained all weekend (lots, but not as much as Houston- hope all of you are okay) so we all felt a little tired. Still managed to pack in lots of fun.

Earlier in the weekend he was making a popping noise while eating. So silly. Always something new.

Here fishy fishy

My Dad and his wife were in town this past Thursday through today visiting Owen. They say they came to visit us too, but we know the drill by now:)

They got here on Thursday and it was really rainy so we just hung around. On Friday we went to the Shedd aquarium. It was Owen's first trip and he seemed to like it! Everything that is except the exhibit where they simulated waves with a loud crashing sound. He FREAKED OUT! Not sure why but it was kind of funny.

Looking at the fish
"Mommy dressed me up on this stupid shark hat!"
"OK, it's funny."
His big thing right now as you can see from the picture above is sticking his tongue out. Such a nutball.

Still not sure if it was the fish he enjoyed or if it really was seeing his reflection in the glass, but either way he was having fun!

Saturday he had a high fever from a shot so we didn't do much and Sunday we went outlet shopping. Owen says, "Thanks for the clothes Nonna Barbara and Papa Mo!" They bought him a cute pair of Robeez shoes too, but he HATED them and screamed when we put him on his feet. Better get over it before winter. Owen is definitely going through a phase right now where is very demanding and particular about everything. And developing a little temper. He must get that from Brett;)

Owen is also teething like crazy so the last few nights have been pretty lacking in the sleep department. He has 4 coming in on the top. I'm sure I'd be a wreck too...

Ho Hum Weekend

I know it was a holiday weekend but we didn't do much and it was great!!! We've been out of town so much this summer it was nice just to hang around. Friday night we had an impromptu get together with Ryan & Mary and Andy & Jill. Saturday, Sunday and Monday we really just hung around and ran errands. Brett golfed on Sunday so I'm sure that was the highlight of his weekend.

Owen had fun at the park.

He also had fun in his pool.

And lastly, he had fun playing on the cat's scratching post.
Hope you all had a great long weekend!
