Happy Halloween!!!!

What a great Halloween we had. First time making the kids' costumes and Maddi was so excited for trick or treating. It was an extra special treat that my Dad and Step-mom were in town to celebrate with us.

The kids had a party at school that morning.

Owen's Room Party...
Getting ready to go outside to find their magic pumpkins.

Cuties in their costumes (except for mine of course that refused to wear his)

They do a fun thing at this school where the kids plant magic pumpkin seeds and then on Halloween they go out and "pick" their pumpkins. It was really cute. But of course my literal child was upset that he did not get to pick the one in the place that he put his seed:(

They also had fun activities inside singing songs and eating snacks with friends.

Maddi was SO exciting for trick or treating. It made me giggle watching how excited she was.

Time to Decorate!

We had lots of fun decorating for our first holiday in the house. We also managed to squeeze in some handmade crafting fun.

We made foam bats as a family:)

Mr. Spider made from boas and paper lanterns

Yarn-wrapped Candy Corn (over foam)

Googly eye wreath for the fall front porch

And last but certainly not least, pumpkin carving! The kids started with mr. potato head decorations that we found. They were so cute.

Maddi had a witch

And Owen had a pirate. Aaargh!

Then it was time for the real carving. Scooping out the guts...(Owen's favorite part as you can imagine.)

Our family of pumpkins. Happy Halloween!

Annual Fall Fun in Canada

This weekend my mother, mother-in-law and I made our annual trek up to Stratford, Canada for some good theater fun. This year was extra special. At the end of the month my mom will be celebrating her 65th birthday. Stratford means the world to her and for the past year I've been conspiring with family and friends to give her the gift of a seat endowed in her name.

For those of you that know me well, keeping a secret is not my strong suit. Especially from my mom. And for a year. It was SOOOO hard. But so worth it. She really had no idea and was taken aback. It was so special and I'm so glad it went off well. It's the least I could do for all she has done for me.

And of course the shows and the whole weekend were just wonderful. A big thank you to all of the people that helped make this possible! Happy early birthday Mom!!!!
