First Trip to Florida

Bear with me, because this is going to be a long post...

This past week we went to Florida for the first time to visit my dad and step-mom. They live in Ponte Vedra Beach, just south of Jacksonville. Since I was still enjoying my 2 week hiatus from work, Owen and I decided to head down early (2 days before daddy). Thankfully I can say that we made it through the travels pretty well. I was a little nervous going that far on a plane by myself with him but it all worked out well.

TUESDAY
Owen loved spending time on the porch with Papa Mo.
Time to try green beans for the first time. WAY better than peas.

Papa Mo got to read Owen a bedtime story.
WEDNESDAY
On Wednesday it was time to head to the beach for Owen's first look at the Ocean and the sand. He didn't mind the glasses so much but he HATED the hat.
Then we headed out to the beach. You can't really tell from this photo, but Owen loved when the breeze was blowing on him. He kept laughing at it.

He wasn't so sure about the sand between his toes. And, as you can see from the videos, he was not a fan of the ocean.

We went out to dinner and Owen sat in a restaurant high chair for the first time. He did great and of course everyone thought he was so cute;)Here is his little prepster outfit he was wearing.Thursday
Thursday started off with sweet potatoes. Yummmmmy!Back to the beach. Owen did a little better, mostly just liked the ocean breeze.

Later that night daddy got there and we went out to dinner. Note Owen's cool Hawaiian shirt from the grandparents along with the way cool sandals!Friday
Nothing to show this day. Brett, my dad and I all went to the TPC tournament at Sawgrass. It was great. We were guests of UBS so we were treated to all the special amenities and tents since they are the main sponsor. Definitely the way to watch golf! We did take this cheesy photo while we were there though.
Thanks to Nonna Barbara for babysitting. Owen had a blast:)

Saturday
Saturday it was back to the beach with daddy so we could get some sun.
Liking the sand MUCH better. And the water. No screaming this time. Daddy must have calmed him down ;-)

That night there was a bbq so everyone on Barbara's side of the family could meet Owen. At first he was a little nervous with all the people, but he became social very quickly. Here he is in another adorable Hawaiian shirt.

Unfortunately it was time to leave but there was some last minute fun to be had. Owen loved the bright flowers from the party the night before.
He liked them so much he picked the petals right off the flowers.

Owen and Papa Mo with matching Rodder's Journal shirts. So cute! Thanks for a great week!!!!!!

Happy Half Birthday Owen!

Owen turned 6 months old today! Gosh, it is so hard to believe. It is true when they say it is hard to imagine what life was like before you had a child. It is such a wonderful blessing and we love him SO much.

Ok, enough sappiness. Here is Owen in his big boy chair getting ready for a new food!Sweet potatoes, yum!
He still made a few faces but these went over MUCH better than the peas. There was no screaming and crying involved.

After breakfast it was time to open the loot. We've been collecting toys for this level for a while and some were gifts, but it is a bit embarrassing to see how much we gave him;) But, he's so fun to spoil.
He thinks it's just great!
My mom got him a blow-up penguin (which of course Brett hates since it's another penguin) and Owen thought it was really cool.
His favorite part of the new toys was chewing on them of course.
We'll leave you with some videos of Owen enjoying his new toys.

NO Peas Please

Owen is moving up in the solid food world and tried peas for the first time. At first he was distracted because we started putting the tray on his seat.He really likes all the stuff on the place mat that came with it.
Time for peas. He's thinking, "Yay, I love food."
"What is this?"
"I hate it!"
Meanwhile his mommy and daddy were rolling on the floor laughing. He'll get us back someday I'm sure...

For your own entertainment, here are 2 videos showing his disdain for peas.

First Craft (at home anyway)

Owen and I took advantage of mommy having no job to do our first craft project today. It's a secret since it's something for Mother's Day, but let's just hope that Crayola isn't lying when they say the paint is non-toxic. I'm pretty sure he ingested some:)

And, the best thing that could happen today, did. I found another job. All is good and we are very blessed.
