Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to my love, Brett! Today is 4 years since we got married, although we've been together for 13 1/2 years:) I love him more and more each day.

The theme for the 4th anniversary is fruit, flowers and silk/linen. Brett and I always try to take the theme and put a modern twist on it, because let's face it, most of these things are lame. Like last year, the theme was leather and he got me a new pair of shoes...

This year, we are trying not to overspend but really just be thoughtful.

Brett got me this great Fruit Flowers bouquet. Follows the fruit/flowers theme. So cute and yummy!!!

I decided to put together a montage of photographs with the two of us over the years. It was really fun to look back at all of the good times we've had together. You can click below to watch it. It's kind of long, but so great in my eyes. The background looked like linen, so that is my interpretation on this year's theme.

The song I used was so perfect, because I really do feel like I'm married to my best friend. I feel like we can make it through anything together. He keeps me laughing every day and is all I need. I love him with all my heart.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Friday was my 31st birthday:) Although 31 is not exactly an exciting birthday, at least I'm still having them!!

But I do have to admit, I thought about the fact that 10 years ago I turned 21. I am as happy, if not happier, with this age as I was with that one. I consider this a pretty big accomplishment. It feels as if I've hit my stride. I have a great family, work is going well and I feel blessed in more ways than I can count.

My actual birthday was celebrated by my co-workers with some homemade goodies, chocolate and wine. It was great. Brett also changed all of the diapers and did the dishes even though it was my night. Now that's a birthday present!!!

Saturday we relaxed after having either been out of town or having guests in town for the last 5 weeks. Saturday night we had Jill, Andy, Kristy and Ava over to cook out and celebrate. Andy and Jill came on their scooter. Don't they look so cute in their helmets?!?!?!?

Today I ran a bunch of errands on my own which was really great. Sometimes it's nice just to get out on your own...

Fun with Friends and Family

This past weekend we went to Toledo. We had a baby shower, a birthday party and mother's day to celebrate. Lots of fun and excitement!

We arrived on Friday and Owen was ready to run after a 4 hour car ride. Nonni Pat got all the grandchildren these cute Adirondack chairs to sit in. Owen thought it was so fun.
Owen leading 3 generations of Geisslers around the yard.
On Saturday Nonni Pat was tasked with babysitting since Brett and I both had plans. I had my friend's baby shower at noon and Brett had a diaper party that began with golf in the wee hours of the morning.

Nonni Pat took Owen to his cousin Bennett's soccer game around 9:15. Which meant I had 1 hour all to myself before I had to get ready. It was amazing, I read a book and didn't worry about anything else. Thanks Pat!!!

Apparently Owen was like having a new toy. Both cousins wanted to be near him:) So, Nonni Pat ended up with all three in the backseat of her car and couldn't have been happier! Bennett is the oldest (almost four) on the left, Owen in the middle and Caden (just turned 2) is on the right. It is so cute to see all of them together.
After the soccer game they went back to the cousins' house to play. Owen really enjoyed all of the trucks they had, of course. Then it was time to come home for a nap. Here is Owen waking up from his nap. Such a silly boy...
Time to log some miles on Clifford. A very popular push toy at Nonni Pat and Papa Jim's.
Here Papa Jim and Owen are onto the trail of something...
While all of this was going on, I was off to the baby shower for Jen, one of my oldest (in terms of how long I've known her) and dearest friends.
Jen, her mom and grandmaSaturday evening we had a belated birthday party for Caden. Brett practiced being a jungle gym.
My mom came too. Her and Owen had lots of fun reading together. Owen LOVES books which is great.

After a wonderful Mother's Day brunch and some shopping on Sunday we came back to Chicago. Owen had a rare moment of cuddling while we watched a Baby Einstein video. Gotta take it where we can get it.
And finally, some recent artwork for your viewing pleasure.

Things Owen did this week:
-Has started identifying animals by their actual names and not sounds (Cow vs. Moo and Cat vs. Meow)
-Loves to say Moo Cow, which cracks us up because that's what we've been calling it since he was born
-Says ambulance
-Continues to have a fantastic memory...freaks us out sometimes

-Said hot dog while reading a book (he only heard it read once about 2 weeks prior)

Hello Spring!

Today was absolutely perfect in the weather department!!! (finally) So of course we had to soak in as much as possible.

We pulled all of Owen's backyard toys out. He got a new slide which was so much fun!

For Christmas Aunt Stacy and Uncle Thomas got Owen some yard tools and a mower. Here he is with the hedge trimmer.
Brett is really good at putting batteries into things at this point;) This is the weed wacker. He also got a leaf blower. Too cute!We also took some time to just relax and enjoy a nice cold beverage.
Thank you God for such a beautiful day. It was truly a blessing.
