Papo and Nonna Barbara Come to Town

My Dad and Stepmom came into town for a visit. We had lots of fun like always! The highlight was going to the Legoland Discovery Center in the suburbs. Owen is really into legos so we knew he'd love it but we all really enjoyed it.

To start, they have built a model of chicago with all of the big landmarks. It was so incredible. And the scene would change from day to night. Amazing.

This is the building that the kids go to school in!

After that room they have a jungle room. It's amazing how much stuff can be built out of legos.

Next was a spooky hall

Next was a wax museum type logo but the people were made out of legos

Then there was a ride that took you through all kinds of scenes. I thought it was pretty neat but it was dark and Owen was pretty freaked out the whole time.

Upstairs there were a ton more activities. We started by watching a 4-D movie. Owen LOVED it. Then, we went on a factory tour. It's just a small room with a mock-up of how legos were made but it was interesting to learn and interactive for the kids which was fun.

After that we went into the big room with tons of legos and a ride (that Owen didn't want to go on and unfortunately for Maddi who did, she was too small.) Honestly, Owen could have stayed in this room forever and if it was the only exhibit they had, he would have been totally fine with it. There was a place just to build and play, a smaller place just for girls with legos in girly colors, a playground area we didn't even visit as well as duplo village with legos for smaller kids Maddi's age which we didn't get to visit either. In the big lego area, it was all about building cars and racing them. LOTS of fun for everyone, especially Owen and Papo.

After lunch we went over to the master building area to learn how to build a bumblebee. First we stopped at the cool lego lion for some pictures.

Of course no museum would be complete without a gift shop! Owen found a small set to make cars and Papo found a friend.

Another highlight was the Angry Boards game that Owen got for his birthday from Papo and Nonna Barbara. It is just like the online version and so much fun!

Like always, we had so much fun and the trip wasn't long enough. But, we'll take what we can get. Thanks for coming to visit us!!!!

Hanging with the Wrobels

This weekend we went to visit our friends Jeff and Jill and their baby John. It was lots of fun because we also got to see Andy, Jill and lily as well as Nick and Katia who recently moved back to the States. Owen had a blast with all of the younger kids, especially baby John.

Happy 4th Birthday Owen!

Hard to believe, but our little Schmoobie is 4 today!

For breakfast he had two vanilla cupcakes without icing, just how he likes it:)

Following dinner it was time for singing and more cupcakes.

After dinner he opened presents from Mommy, Daddy and Sissy. This picture was taken at the exact moment he was born 4 years ago:)

Happy birthday, we love you!!!!!

They created a fall story for the Parent Lunch they had. Owen's wrote about playing at the park and drew a picture of the family where him and Maddi were playing on the swings.

Daddy and Owen are having lots of fun building with the legos from his birthday. They used to be Brett's when he was growing up!

Maddi said goodbye to the Waddler room and hello to the Toddler 1 room!!!!

We rearranged a bit to create a "play area" downstairs with our limited space. They seem to like it:)

Looking forward to a great November...

Trick or Treat

We had our first trick or treating experience in Chicago this year. The last 3 years we've been in Ohio for trick or treating so it was fun to try it out here. Owen was pretty excited for all of it and to wear his costume. Not sure Maddi is old enough to get it yet.

After we went to a bunch of houses we came back to pass out candy. The kids had just as much fun with that. Until the guy that was scary and said "CANDY" came. It was like out of a movie. Owen jumped about three feet high, tossed the candy bowl in the air, the candy went flying and he ran away screaming and crying. Maddi just sat there on the chair in hysterics. I have to admit, it was freakin' hilarious.
We had our own live Halloween direction with this scary spider that decided to make a web right next to our door. Creepy and cool all at the same time!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!
