Weekend Roundup

On Friday I got to attend opening day at Wrigley Field with my clients. Although it was really cold, we still had a lot of fun. It was my first opening day so that was pretty exciting.

The rest of the weekend was really relaxing. It gave me a chance to catch up on scanning some of the kids artwork and pictures from school.

Maddi
She loves standing at the mirror.
Maddi has started cruising around the furniture this weekend too. Which means walking is not far behind. Eek.

Maddi's 1st birthday is almost here (I really can't believe it) and I decided to make her birthday as handmade as possible.

Starting with her ladybug themed invites. I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I got the idea from a picture on Google Images.
Look for more handmade goodies as her birthday gets closer:)

Craft Fun!

My Mom came into town this weekend and get got to go to the Craft Social together. It was so much fun. I just love spending a few hours doing crafting and learning about new techniques that are out there. It's like a little slice of heaven.

We each participated in three projects.

One was needlefelting. Neither of us had tried but it was pretty easy to get the hang of it and I really enjoyed it! We made a pendant/brooch.

You start by punching around on the wool to tighten it down.
Then you take your pins down to one or two and start "slicing" to make the patter for the flower we were making.
After that you begin pushing in around the pattern to begin making the flower indentations.
Then, you continue working it, adding a middle section.
And you punch and punch and punch. And viola, you have a flower!
Here are all of the different flowers our group made. I just love seeing other people's idea and creativity.
Some of the tools we used.

We also decorated our bags using Tulip's new Bead in a Bottle product. Basically, it looks like you are beading something but it's way easier and takes a lot less time.

We started with a template. I made a butterfly and my mom made an Egyptian lotus blossom.
Then you go around the template and blot out the pattern with your chosen colors.
And here you have our finished project. Turned out pretty cute!

For the last project, my mom and I both made something different.

She made this fun pouch with Velcro and duck tape.
I made a necklace that used a new dimensional product from Modge Podge. It's pretty neat and it was fun to be making jewelry again.

We started with the metal object that had a button glued on it. From there, I cut the fabric to size and affixed with traditional Modge Podge.
Next I added the chain and some embellishments.
And here it is. I wasn't able to apply the dimensional layer until after I got home but this gives you the idea.
I think it's going to be really cute for spring!

In other news, Maddi is growing up so fast. She can now say mama and dada. She also stood on her own at Daycare, although we've yet to see her do it at home. Hard to believe she is getting so big.

Science is Fun!

To help fill some of the time during our never-ending winter, we've been doing some science experiments at home.

This week's was using the reaction between baking soda and vinegar to blow up a balloon. Pretty fun!

I took Owen to his first play, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. It's based off of the hilarious children's book and we both had a great time.

On Sunday, we met up with my "Little Sister" from college and her boyfriend that were in town. It's been a few years since I've seen her so it was so nice to catch up.

Jelly enjoyed just hanging out being cute.

Fun-packed Weekend

We have been so busy lately. Today we had a rare nice day in March so the boys spent a lot of timing running around outside.

Obviously it took its toll on one little boy I know.

Rocket Science

We decided to have fun with science this weekend and make a rocket out of a balloon. Owen was super excited by this idea!

Swimmy Swimmy

Owen has been taking swimming lessons at a new place since January. For various reasons, Maddi and I have yet to make it.

But, we finally made it out of the house to go watch brother.
