My Dad and Stepmom came into town for a visit. We had lots of fun like always! The highlight was going to the Legoland Discovery Center in the suburbs. Owen is really into legos so we knew he'd love it but we all really enjoyed it.
To start, they have built a model of chicago with all of the big landmarks. It was so incredible. And the scene would change from day to night. Amazing.
This is the building that the kids go to school in!
After that room they have a jungle room. It's amazing how much stuff can be built out of legos.
Next was a spooky hall
Next was a wax museum type logo but the people were made out of legos
Then there was a ride that took you through all kinds of scenes. I thought it was pretty neat but it was dark and Owen was pretty freaked out the whole time.
Upstairs there were a ton more activities. We started by watching a 4-D movie. Owen LOVED it. Then, we went on a factory tour. It's just a small room with a mock-up of how legos were made but it was interesting to learn and interactive for the kids which was fun.
After that we went into the big room with tons of legos and a ride (that Owen didn't want to go on and unfortunately for Maddi who did, she was too small.) Honestly, Owen could have stayed in this room forever and if it was the only exhibit they had, he would have been totally fine with it. There was a place just to build and play, a smaller place just for girls with legos in girly colors, a playground area we didn't even visit as well as duplo village with legos for smaller kids Maddi's age which we didn't get to visit either. In the big lego area, it was all about building cars and racing them. LOTS of fun for everyone, especially Owen and Papo.
After lunch we went over to the master building area to learn how to build a bumblebee. First we stopped at the cool lego lion for some pictures.
Of course no museum would be complete without a gift shop! Owen found a small set to make cars and Papo found a friend.
Another highlight was the Angry Boards game that Owen got for his birthday from Papo and Nonna Barbara. It is just like the online version and so much fun!
Like always, we had so much fun and the trip wasn't long enough. But, we'll take what we can get. Thanks for coming to visit us!!!!
